Your Tree Care Guide

At Lotus & Greenstreet Tree Care, we believe that every tree in your landscape holds the potential for growth, beauty, and health. This spring, we invite you to join us in awakening your garden by becoming a tree detective, uncovering the secrets of optimal tree care. Together, we can ensure that your trees not only survive but thrive in the coming seasons.

Spring & Summer Tree Care Tips

🕵️ Inspection: Start the season with a thorough inspection of your trees. Look for signs of damage from winter, including broken or hanging branches, and any signs of disease or pest infestation. Early detection and treatment are key to maintaining tree health.

✂️ Pruning: Late winter to early spring, before new growth starts, is often the best time to prune most trees. Removing dead, damaged, or diseased branches helps prevent pests and diseases from infesting the trees during the spring.

🧤 Mulching: Applying a fresh layer of mulch around the base of trees can help retain soil moisture, regulate soil temperature, and reduce weed competition. Make sure to keep mulch a few inches away from the trunk to prevent rot!

💧 Watering: Summer heat and drought can stress trees, especially young and newly planted ones. We recommend deep, infrequent watering that reaches the tree’s entire root system, rather than frequent shallow watering.

🌱 Fertilization: Spring is an ideal time to fertilize trees as they exit dormancy and begin a new growth cycle. A soil test can help determine the specific nutrient needs of each tree.

🌪️ Storm Damage Prevention: Weather in the spring can be a bit unpredictable. To reduce storm damage risk, consider cabling or bracing for older or vulnerable trees.

As we embrace the new beginnings that spring offers, we are here to support you every step of the way. From customized care plans to professional pruning and pest management, our team is dedicated to enhancing the health and beauty of your landscape.

The Oak Guardians: Safeguarding a Lakeside Sanctuary

When the owners of a picturesque lake home reached out to us they were driven by a growing concern for their safety and the integrity of their property. Surrounded by majestic oak trees, the beauty of their retreat was undeniable, yet the looming threat posed by these natural giants, especially following a year marked by extreme weather events, was impossible to ignore. Branches of considerable size had already fallen perilously close to their home, prompting an urgent need for expert intervention. What they sought was a delicate balance between preserving the health and beauty of as many trees as possible and ensuring the safety of their property and loved ones.

Upon undertaking this project, we were faced with a significant challenge: four large oaks surrounding the home were identified as hazardous, showing signs of decline. Our team, comprising expert climbing arborists, was tasked with their removal. This was no small feat, especially considering the size of these trees and their proximity to the house. Some of these giants could not be safely climbed due to their condition, necessitating the use of our 90ft tracked lifts to execute parts of the job. In addition to the removals, we performed reduction pruning on three additional oaks to prevent future failures, demonstrating our proactive approach to tree care.

The project, which we proudly refer to as “The Safeguarded Sanctuary,” was completed to the client’s full satisfaction. Despite the daunting size of the trees and the complex techniques required, our team left a minimal footprint on the property. This project not only ensured the safety of the homeowners but also preserved the beauty of their lake retreat, showcasing our commitment to excellence in tree care and property safety.

At Greenstreet Tree Care, we take pride in our ability to blend technical expertise with a deep respect for nature, providing solutions that protect both our clients and the natural world they love.
